The Race
One ocean. No support. No shortcuts.
The World's Toughest Row is widely regarded as one of the most extreme endurance events on the planet. Athletes row 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic — from San Sebastián de La Gomera, Spain, to Antigua in the Caribbean, entirely unsupported. Every ounce of food, water-making equipment, navigation and safety gear is carried on board from day one. No resupply. No engine. No external help of any kind, for the entire crossing.

Unpredictable conditions — swells, storms, and waves up to 20ft, alongside stretches of flat calm.

Physical extremes — salt sores, blistering, sunburn, and an average bodyweight loss of 8kg per crossing.
What makes it "the toughest"?

Sleep deprivation — rowers work in shifts around the clock, for weeks on end, which can cause hallucination and impaired judgement in extreme cases.

Total isolation — for a solo rower like Marc, there's no crewmate to share the load, physically or mentally.
The Race Gets Tougher Every Year
2027 is shaping up to be the most competitive year yet — with over 45+ teams across the solo, pairs, and team classes. Marc will be lining up against rowers from around the world, all taking on the same 3,000 miles.
